THE FRESH START EFFECT

There is a beautiful and hopeful concept in psychology called the Fresh Start Effect.

It basically means that we’re often more motivated to try something new when we feel we’re making a fresh start.

It works on January 1st, but it can also work on the first of the month, a Monday, a birthday, or the beginning of a new season. Even opening a brand-new notebook or journal can give you that feeling of a fresh beginning.

So, when you’re thinking about setting a goal or trying something new, choose a day or create a little ritual that will mark your fresh start.

Give yourself a starting point, and let that little psychological boost help you get going.
